Information management techniques for distributed semistructured information
resources (supported by RFBR grant 10-07-00156).
The goal of this umbrella project is to address certain research problems in the general area of information management in distributed heterogeneous environment of automobous information resources, including distributed query evaluation and optimization of distributed queries in loosely coupled fenerations of information resources, consistency support techniques for distributed peer-to-peer mobile environments, techniques for improved content-based image retrieval in partially annotated collections, storage and retrieval techniques for geometric information, multidimensional indexing techniques. Expected results include techniques for gathering statistical characteristics in the distributed heterogeneous enviroment for cost-based optimization, investigation, analysis, and evaluation of cost models for autonomous data sources, algebras for distributed query evaluation in semi-structured environment (represented as XML), query optimization techniques for distributed semi-structured data sources. New techniques for content-based image retrival based on a mixture of different types of low-level features, indexing and clustering techniques tuned for image retrieval, techniques for compact description of high-level geometric objects extracted from images.

- Consistent
and efficient interactions of autonomous cooperating information systems
This project deals with consistency issues for peer-to-peer systems and loosely connected systems. Another goal of this project is to develop and evaluate techniques for distributed indexing of semi-structured data and query processing and optimisation in above mentioned classes of distributed systems. The methodologies for application system modelling and design for distributed environments will be also a target of this project. Research project will last from 2004 till 2006 and is funded by Russian Foundation for Basic Research under grant 04-01-00173.
- Analisis of structure extraction and query processing methods for distributed
heterogeneous information resources
Research project was carried out from 2001 till 2003 and was funded by Russian Foundation for Basic Research under grant 01-01-00935.
- Database implementation techniques for non-standard applications.
Research project was carried out from Jan 1998 till Jan 2000 and was funded by Russian Foundation for Basic Research under grant 98-01-00436
- Modelling and management of semi-structured
data for dynamic world-wide-web applications
Research project was carried out from Mar 1998 till Mar 2000 and was funded by INTAS under contract OPEN-97-11109.
- Persistence in telecommunication environment.
Research project was carried out from Jan 1997 till Jul 1997 and was funded by Northern Telecom (NORTEL).
